The Music Teacher – individual or collaboration - award goes to a music educator for leadership in music education (including, instrument, theory, business, and practicum).
The teacher resides and or teaches in Durham Region for the eligibility period: April 1, 2021 through to March 31, 2022. Individual work or collaborations are considered for a specific music education discipline. The award is not given to a collective-institutionalized program, organization, or company.
Between March 15 to May 15, a public callout for submissions will be made. Any submissions that do not meet the eligibility requirements for their respective award category will not be considered.
Public submissions will close on May 15. The Nominating and Voting Committee will go through all submissions to ensure that each submission meets all the requirements for its respective award category.
A panel of selected judges will evaluate the remaining submissions in each category with a given set of judging criteria to determine the top three nominees.
The top three nominees for each category will be posted on the OMA website from July 20 to August 20 for public voting.
Public voting will end on August 20. All votes will be accumulated and the recipient(s) for each award will be announced during the OMA show on September 23.
