CELEBRATING MUSIC IN DURHAM REGION
The Single (recording) of the Year award is presented to an artist or band, born and or residing in the Durham Region, in any genre, for the artistic and commercial impact of a recorded single. The single is released within the eligibility period.
The eligibility period is April 1, 2021 through to March 31, 2022. The artist or band members (majority of members) are born and or reside in the Durham Region. The recording under consideration must be a single.
Between March 15 to May 15, a public callout for submissions will be made. Any submissions that do not meet the eligibility requirements for their respective award category will not be considered.
Public submissions will close on May 15. The Nominating and Voting Committee will go through all submissions to ensure that each submission meets all the requirements for its respective award category.
A panel of selected judges will evaluate the remaining submissions in each category with a given set of judging criteria to determine the top three nominees.
The top three nominees for each category will be posted on the OMA website from July 20 to August 20 for public voting.
Public voting will end on August 20. All votes will be accumulated and the recipient(s) for each award will be announced during the OMA show on September 23.

The OMA Nominating and Voting Committee will meet to discuss and determine potential recipients. Through a developed list of criteria, discussion, and voting, the OMA Nominating and Voting Committee will determine the recipient.
The recipient of this award is determined at the sole discretion of the OMA Nominating and Voting Committee and Executive Committee.
